**INSTALLATION, SAFE USE & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS**
IMPORTANT: To keep children safe from harm, follow these precautions and instructions when installing, using, or maintaining this playground equipment. You can also call us at 1-800-433-2573 for more information or see http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/pubs/324.pdf.
Installation Install swing set where a child can easily be supervised and not in direct sun. Do not install playground equipment over concrete, asphalt, or any other hard surface. A fall onto a hard surface can result in serious injury to the equipment user. Grass and dirt are not considered protective surfacing because wear and environmental factors can reduce their shock absorbing effectiveness. Carpeting and thin mats are generally not adequate protective surfacing. Install your play equipment on level ground with adequate surfacing and anchoring. Use proper hardware, and tighten all connections.
Lay out all the pieces on the ground. Arrange them the way they will eventually connect as the finished assembly, approximately, two to three feet from where the set will set into the ground. Slide the 2 triangular pressings onto the top bar. Do not secure yet. Bolt end pressings to top bar using bolts and locknuts. With top bar upside down, bolt legs to end pressings using bolts, washers, locknuts. Stand frame on its legs and bolt on crossbars with bolts, washers and locknuts.
Push end caps onto crossbars. Position triangular pressings for swing and secure with U bolt, rubber strip, washers and locknuts. Tighten locknuts so that pressings do not move. Suspend equipment from triangular pressings using cap square bolts, flanged bushes and locknuts. Do not over tighten. Bolt stakes to end of legs using bolts, washers and locknuts. Tighten all nuts.
If using S-hooks to connect swing you will need to make sure the S-hooks are closed to within .04 to meet ASTM safety standards. To do this you will need to use our S-hook pliers or a regular pair of channel lock pliers. WARNING: Once the S-hooks have been opened they will have to be replaced to avoid injuries from coming open and/or breaking. Make sure that the shackles used are tightened and if you use the shackle swing hangers for the chain that these also are tightened. Inspect regularly or use Loctite® to make sure bolt is still tight.
The new CPSC standard states the owner/operator of the swing set needs to post warning signs outside the use zone that are readily visible to the intended viewer and alert them to the potential hazard in time to take appropriate action. This message may be on either a sign or label outside the use zone. Signs should be posted with the appropriate age group for the swing set. Not for Adults. Adults should supervise children at all times. Do not allow children to stand on or use unsafely. Do not allow set to be used if damaged. Remove helmets, drawstrings or accessories around the neck which are all known to create head entrapment or entanglement hazards. Where applicable, hot play surfaces are known to reach temperatures high enough to cause serious burns to children generally less than 4 years of age. Must have adequate surfacing under swing sets to prevent injury from falls.”
Specifications for all warning signs or labels should conform to ANSI Z535.1 and ANSI Z535.1 or ANSI Z535.1 in the following areas: legibility, type of lettering, clarity of message and symbol, color specifications and work message and visibility. The labels or signs should be durable and conform to UL 969. It has been and continues to be the responsibility of the owner/operator to replace signs or labels or both should they become illegible, destroyed or removed. Signs can be purchased at http://www.mindspring.com/~safetyplay/
Installation of FEET: Slide the 2” pipe over rubber plug. This will be snug. If using a larger pipe such as 2 3/8” you will need to drill a 3/8” hole thru the pipe and rubber plug. Insert a 3/8” bolt thru both and tighten to hold in place.
Safe Use: Any set that is placed above ground is not meant to be used with a normal swing only with a Jennswing or an infant seat. Our above ground swing frames are not designed for vigorous swinging. They are designed for swinging within the “A” of the frames.
This set is for children 2-12 years old only. Not for Adults. Adults should supervise children at all times. Do not allow children to stand or kneel on seat or use unsafely. Do not allow swing to be used if damaged. Do not use if wet. Instruct children not to wrap chains around top beam or twist chains. Tell children to watch for children and adults standing, walking or running close to moving swings and to stop swinging to avoid hitting them and causing injury. Tell children to hold chains tightly in each hand while swinging. Tell children not to get off swing until it has stopped completely.

Maintenance: Do the following to reduce the chance of serious injuries. Check monthly for cracks, rust, missing rivets, open S-hooks or evidence of vandalism such as cutting, metal showing through the material or bent seats from children standing on them. Tighten and lubricate all metallic moving parts per manufacturer’s instructions. Check all protective coverings on nuts, bolts, pipes, edges, corners and all moving parts including swing hangers, swing seats, ropes, cables, chains and shackles. Replace as needed. Make sure there are no exposed footings, anchoring devices, rocks, roots, holes or any other obstacles in or around playground equipment. In high use areas these inspections should be done more frequently. Clean with mild soap and water when you do the monthly maintenance checks.
Any damage from vandalism, abuse or misuse VOIDS all warranties.
